Default Looks different up here...

This is the first time I have been able to get a close up shot of a dragon fly from up above him. I was surprised how different it looked. like he's missing part of his scull. I wonder what support he has for those big eyes?
These aren't the best dragons I've managed to capture image wise but,
they sure are different!

Hope you enjoyed seeing these.

Excellent! I sure enjoyed them. I was lucky enough a couple of weeks ago to visit a local pond when the red ones (no idea of proper name) were mating. I was able to get about 150-200 pics, many of them 1:1 or close as they were distracted. Shot with an Oly body though but if I ever post them i might put a heads up here for the good folks that might be so kind as to check them out. What lens did you use for these? My favorite is probably the Tamron SP 80-200 either alone, with a Kenko 1.5 or with a tube. Usually gets me as close as they will let me.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the complements!
John, I wasn't prepared to get any shots with my macro lens so, these are the best I could get with the DA 55-300mm hand held at a distance of aprox 10-15 ft. Sounds like you had an excellent opportunity for your shoot! be sure and let us know when you post. I think the red ones are called meadow hawks but, I'm no expert on them.

NMR, ZZtop huh, careful... you're showing your age!

Interesting engineering where the wings are attached to the body! The first one looks so cool, with those sunglasses and the green moustache. Thanks for posting, GW!

GW, I'm actually 25, but I've been called an 'old soul' many a times. My record collection may be dated, but there are few musicians that stand the test of time like those in my vinyl collection. ZZ Top doesn't really happen to be one of them, not the best musicians ever, but certainly a fun band to pop in at times Lets not get into music, or I won't ever stop typing!

Very cool GW. Definitely a different, and disorienting, view.

Great view of your bright little friend! Amazing how well that 55-300 does in your capable hands!

Thank you for all the feedback, guys.
I appreciate you comments.

NMR, Shucks,man. You're just a young
whippersnapper.
But, I can understand your love of music, I'm the same way.
Cheers.
