Default k20d image rotation in playback????

I have a mystery and I need help.

When taking a photo in Portrait orientation. During playback, the image has been turning when I turned the camera. If holding the camera in Landscape, the image would rotate to the center and if I turned the camera, the image would go back to portrait.

In the custom menu, which is turned on, I have both rotation settings "saving rotation in" and "auto image rotation" set to on. But the image no longer rotates when I turn the camera in playback.

What have I done wrong???????

Just tested this with my K20D. I've always noticed that when shooting portrait it will turn the shot when I look at it in landscape orientation. But turning the camera to portrait orientation during playback does nothing. Have to use the downward pointing arrow to rotate it manually. Don't think I've ever seen my camera automatically rotate the image if I turn the camera.

Hi Ed,

I could be wrong, but I believe that the only body that featured this is the K-7. From what I've heard, it doesn't work this way in the new K-5, and I don't recall this ever happening with the K20. I also just tested this with my K20 and the image doesn't auto raotate. If it were capable, I'm sure that I would have activated this as I love it in the K-7.

Well, maybe I'm wrong. But, I'd swear that my K20D has done this. The K20D manual offers virtually nothing on this issue. I need to dig out Yvon Borques book and see if it covers it in some way.
