Default Sculls on the Charles River

I thought I would show some more pictures I took at the “Head of the Charles” races last Saturday. The race was begun downstream and I was positioned with the racing sculls coming toward me (upstream to the finish line) but that meant that the racers were with their backs toward me. The pictures I got with the racers facing me were sculls going downstream to get to the starting positions.

My field of view from my perch on the Harvard bridge. Taken with Sigma 10-20 lens.

All the pictures of the sculls were taken with the Tokina 80-400mm lens.

I love the name of this one!

Harvard Alumni scull

This was the first year that a woman coxswain was allowed to urge on the men and in this boat you see a female hollering at the men (sort of like real life). LOL

Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Radcliffe, Northeastern University, Wellesley College, Boston College all have boathouses on the Charles River. The one pictured below belongs to Harvard.

Because the lower Charles river is navigable by power boats it comes under the jurisdiction of the US Coastguard who made there presence known.

Hope you enjoyed visiting the race.

Lou

Hey Lou,
My guess is they're pretty darn good photos.... only all we can see is "content protected by owner"!

You're welcome, Lou, but number 6 is still missing... It's the one titled; Harvard Alumni scull...

Thanks, fixed it now. I hope you're not a Harvard Alumni and might have felt slighted LOL. When you have someone posting who went to the school of hard knocks this is the result you get.

I posted from my Zenfolio gallery and it was locked. When I looked at the post I could see my pictures but I guess no one else could.

Again my thanks,

Lou

Yep, can see them now. And just like I suspected, they are excellent!
Had to smile over the name of Harvard's Alumni scull. My dad use to call me a numscull when I was a child and did or said something ignorant. He said it lovingly of course.
Great shot of the Coast Guard's bird.
