The original name of Sir William Lyons's 1922 company was Swallow Sidecar Co. Ltd. (which made sidecars for motorcycles) and then Swallow Cars Ltd., which began making custom bodies on frames and running gear from Standard Motor Car Co. Ltd. The SS Jaguar name was used on models for the first time in 1935. The full company took the name Jaguar after the Second World War because (allegedly) the name SS was considered politically incorrect (Nazi reference).

Great photos ~ and you got the history and specs right.

Her name is "Grace," and she's a lot of fun to drive and enjoy around within short distances. With about a 45mph max, we trailer to distant destinations. She's no trailer queen mind you, just not up to speed for highways.
