Default 1935 Jaguaur SSII Tourer

One car that I found rather appealing, was this 1935 Jag.
It was in great shape but, it wasn't just a show car. It was driven on a regular basis. The paint showed the normal wear you'd expect for a driver but, it still won a blue ribbon in its class... Survivor.
It has a whopping 12 hp 4cyl motor!

What a lovely car and lovely pictures.

Ahhh to go for a drive in a '30's Jag drophead, like that.....down some hedgerow bordered, winding country lane in England.

Thanks, Mole and Les.
Hard to believe this beauty sold originally for 265 pounds! But again, back then that was a ton of money.

LOL. yeah, that's what they tell me. Kinda blows you away when you think about it, a 12 hp sports car that claims snappy performance and great handling! I'd love to take it out for a drive.
and they only built 186 of them...
Here's a blow up of the placard in front of the car.

Back in those days in Britain the horse power was not an accurate rating of how much HP an engine put out. It was done by a formula to reduce the amount of taxes that would be assessed to an engine.

This link from Wikipedia explains it much better then I can.

Another poster asked how many speeds in the gearbox. There is a '30's Jag in our town...I believe it has a 4 speed transmission.
