Default Spider On Request

Last week I posted some spider webs. Responses included wanting to see macros of the spider, and what kind of spider is it. The spider is a Spinybacked Orbweaver. The spider is only about 1/4 inch (6mm) across. I had a hard time getting good macros. None were in a position that allowed me to set up a tripod. I used my Vivitar 90-180mm Macro in "Catch In Focus", and my 300mm DA* f4 trying to catch different angles.

That is one cool looking spider - never seen one like it before...!

In pic' number 2 it almost looks like it's wearing a crown...

Thanks for sharing these...

That is one strange-looking spider! Thanks for posting these - don't think I've ever seen one, but then, a spider that small I might not notice much.

You may miss the spider but you would not miss the web. This tiny spider builds a large conspicuous web. I have seen the connecting points as much as ten feet apart.

That is indeed a creepy looking spider. Just right for Halloween viewing.

Hey Ed,
Thanks for posting the Macros.
In the 20 plus years I've lived here, I don't recall ever seeing one.
Now I'm going to be on the lookout for them. They look like a good challenge!
You did very well on these. Like Wizzard mentioned, that one looks like it is wearing a crown.
