these are excellent photos for promoting the use of a tripod
the rainbows are exceptional

i bought a new tripod around August this year and have yet to use it
keep posting stuff like this and you just may encourage me to take it out

Patty - Thanks so much! This new tripod is small & light - fits in my knapsack easily - but still quite steady. If I only had a big bulky one, would probably almost never use it...

John - So glad you enjoyed these. Tripod is definitely a useful tool for me - allows slower shutter speeds, greater DOF, and forces me to slow down and think more about composition. Not a good choice if I want to hike a lot of miles quickly though...
(PS - I posted some more tripod shots recently - the waterfalls and mushrooms in the "Thanksgiving Hikes" thread, and the dusk photos too...)

I was curious if you used a tripod on the trail. The mushroom shots were outstanding.

Wizzard - I find it almost impossible to see & enjoy all the amazing photos posted by all the amazing photographers here! Indeed the tripod is working out well - and fits easily in the backpack/daypack too!
