Nice shots Kevin. I like the fountain shot a lot. The last close up of the snake is top draw!

Jehan - Thank you ! Yes, it was a night shot. I actually found the snake sweet !

Thanks John (Jelpee) !

Thank you Pen. She is a very pretty snake isn't she. For the butterfly it was all about the composition because I didn't have a macro lens with me (that was taken with the 55-300). Not sure if I should have cropped off some from the right though ?

Thank you Patty !

Cheers Ira ! I tried to get shots of the whole snake and then some close ups.

Thank you John - glad you enjoyed them !

Thank you for your comments Les - they sure do, the world needs more snakes like her !

Harriett - thank you for your suggestions. Yes the portrait shot is taken from the landscape one. I was trying to lose the bright light highlighting the tree but not sure if it works. I think I still prefer the landscape version.

Thank you Ronny ! Snakes are actually pretty common in China but they do tend to avoid cities for obvious reasons. My wife says there were lots of poisonous snakes in the bamboo groves near her home town when she was growing up.

Lou - thank you for your kind comments ! I'm glad you liked them.

Amazing how much your rat snake resembles our garter snakes! Really like the 2nd snake photo - great composition and use of DOF!
As others have said, lighting on the fountain is wonderful.
Also amazed how much your butterfly looks like our Eastern Commas! Nice photo with great rich color!

Thank you Mole - kind words from the Master !

I am also constantly amazed at the similarities between Chinese flora & fauna and that of the UK (and I guess it seems the USA too).
