Well, now I have tried it. Me being very much a newbie to this, the results look promising. But there is a learning curve for sure.
I took this old shot, a "could-have-been", but low contrast and out of focus (well, manual focus bif so I'm not really ashamed).

First one directly converted from Lightroom, some exposure adjustment but no sharpening. Slightly cropped.

Second one, pp-ed in Photoshop using auto contrast, InFocus and a little smart sharpening. Definitely an improvement, even if it still is far from the Topaz samples.

I tried some fine detailed (lots of feathers) well focused shots too, and that looks even more promising. I want to get some more experience before posting, though.

The bird's head and body are very much improved, the wings (which are far more oof/motion blur) show some artifacts. I'd love to see a blending of the two, keeping the wing ends and tail from the original and the rest of the bird from the InFocus one. The program definitely shows promise.
