Default Winters First Snow on the Farm

Last 2 days or so we have gotten the winters first snow here in scotland and today the sun arrived this morning, so while out checking the cattle i took my camera with me while wading through knee deep snow. All taken with my K-7 and the DA* 60-250mm F4

Cows on Parade -

Latest Arrival - this little fella arrived in the world last night in the middle of a blizzard, talk about rude awakening, fortunately they can get into some pretty good shelter in the woods and he was fine this morning.

Snowy Trees - the snow on the trees i always find it a magical sight so as i wandered through the woods looking for cows i had to take afew snaps

Got some from last night too and that was a good test for the k7 weather sealing and cold weather capabilities shooting in a blizzard much of the time - the low light sadly vexed the autofocus a fair bit but will post the better ones after i've processed the best of them

Great pictures of winter in Scotland and the not so...'wee beasties".

Do you have any Highland Cattle ? I wasn't sure about the cow in picture # 2.

nope no highland cattle though i have thought about it - but then i think about the horns and how the occasional cow can get abit irrate when it has a calf - but maybe someday but would have to think on someway to deal safely with them if they were getting agressive

Great shots John - I love the snow too when it's fresh and bright like that.

Wow super series, when we talk about first snow it's mostly not more than 1", but that's enough to bring the country to a halt, and because that will be coming our way it can get funny.

The color of those Galloway cows is stunning.

Wonderful photos John. We had a miserable mix of snow and sleet and rain this past weekend. You got a substantial snowstorm!
