Default Cold Grey early December

Past week has been unusually cold & damp for East Tennessee. No deep snows here in the low country, mostly just grey and flurries.

We did have one really fine sunrise - gave me an excuse to test out a little "ultrapod" down along the lakeshore.

(Isn't it amazing how fast the light changes...)

And there are still plenty of ripe berries to add color to these grey days...

Here are some bittersweet and some bush honeysuckle. Both invasive, non-native species, both relished by lots of birds.

Even the less-bright parts of the landscape hold their own special beauty. It's fun to search for unique textures in the "leftovers" from early autumn. For example, here are some empty yucca pods (at an old homesite here at the park), some almost-empty common milkweed pods, and some more mushrooms a little past their peak...

Other work responsibilities and home projects have kept me away from the longer trails lately, but hoping for more time (and maybe a bit warmer weather!) to "hit the trail" again soon.
Hope you like these little glimpses of our grey, almost winter days. Thanks for any comments & critique!

For a cold gray December you've got a lot of color.

Love those sunsets, and that milkweed pod is worth a post on it's own.

Again great work my friend.
