Default Beirut - Lebanon

Due to some family issues I decided to take a break and go to Lebanon, here's the first of the photo's:

Not sure if this is oversharpened, but it just seemed to look better with each nudge of the slider...

More to come later when I get the chance to go through them, hopw you liked them, was an awesome trip, shame so many people dismiss it as a place to visit.

Very nice images, especially the dark patterned floors. BTW, yes it is over-sharpened but it works for images like these making them really "pop".

my first thought too.

Some very interesting images there Ash - look forward to seeing a lot more of this fascinating country. It used to be called (prior to the civil war) the Pearl of the Mediterranean and I had friends that worked in the gorgeous casino that stood on the mountain overlooking the city - before it was shelled into submission.

Thanks all!

The "metalwork" photo's are actually tables, the room was very dark so had to angle what little light I could find off them to catch the detail. Most of these were from the Palace other than the obvious ones from out and around Beirut. Have some more to go through of the countryside and things like that, but not sure when I will get the chance to go through them, will try to find time tonight but I am working until late.

do what you can. one or two nicely composed and exposed will be better than none very well done. thanks for sharing. city-scapes will be very interesting too. naturally, all we usually see is "war-torn" stuff. i'm sure there's still plenty of beauty in that area.

It's a very beautiful country, what was destroyed during the war(s) has been rebuilt and is all new and shiny, and the old buildings like in the photo's above serve as a stark reminder about how much the people have gone through and how strong they are. It's always going to be a troubled country, but the people don't let it get them down, they just carry on with their lives each day, it's very humbling.

I might go back in March or something like that, 2 international holidays in less than 2 months has cleared me out, so need to pay off those credit cards quickly.

Great images, somehow I wouldn't have thought to go to Beirut for a vacation.

Thanks for posting these, changed my view on the country.
