We got back safe and not too cold or wet from these short hikes, and then got ready for another longer one!

Will be posting some more shots from the other waterfall hike soon. Hope you enjoyed these, and will share your comments & critique!

AWESOME! I love these, we never get anything like this because we don't have much for streams, and what few waterfalls are within day-trip range are lower down and don't freeze. I think you might have to exposure bracket and do an HDR to get the exposure right for both the water and ice. Another idea would be to take one picture with the grey water (expose right for the ice), then use layers to adjust the two areas of the picture the way you want, erasing or masking the parts of the layer you don't want.

Thanks for posting these gems!

Great series, Mole.
I was thinking the same thing as Harriet, about HDR.
These photos are making me cold, I gota go warm up!

Lou - So glad you enjoyed these!

Harriet - Thanks for the great PP suggestions. Will have to try these out at the next frozen waterfall...

Ronny - Thanks so much!

GW - It's a lot colder this morning here (4 degrees F). Glad for a good wood stove and plenty of firewood!

Amazing ice formations in the two threads - we don't see that sort of thing where I live (not famous last words, I hope). Nicely documented.
