Default New lens and more winter pics from visby :D

Hi all!

I promised that there would be some more pics from my city, and I just had to try out my new lens so here is the result.

these are unedited straight from cam except: some cropping (for horizon) and basic sharpening for screen.
I will do some more PP later to handle the bluish WB.

Great pictures, looks like a nice place.

I don't mind the blueish WB that much, some are a bit underexposed. What is quite normal because all that white is seen as a neutral gray by the camera.
Normally I set the EV around +2/3EV when having that much white.

Cheers

Ronny

Hey, mike.
Can't say anything bad about these, really quite nice!
That lens is treating you well and looks like you have a pretty good handle on the manual workings of the lens too. once you get the WB corrected they should look great!

A good set! Some do look underexposed (not unusual for snow pictures, as Ronny said, the camera will try to make the overall tone mid-grey, if there's a lot of very bright snow the camera will underexpose to make it grey).

I go back and forth on the white balance issue. Early on a snowy morning and the light does look rather blue-grey. That always makes me think of cold, cold, cold. Sometimes I'll color correct and like it better, other times I think the correction changes the shot so fundamentally, the shot no longer attracts me. Whenever I take shots like this I try it both ways, then keep which one appeals to me more.

Very nice series Michael. What was the lenses again - the Exif has been removed by your software ?

As the others have said - a little underexposed but nothing that PP won't sort out in a blink of the eye !

Well, the exif should'nt be removed, I am using lightroom 3, but perhaps the upload to this site made it go away?
well, the lens is my new Ricoh Rikenon 50mm f/2..Love it so far!! too bad it isn't a zoom lens between 16-500mm f/2

That Ricoh is doing a great job Michael (and so is the photographer) - these are some lovely shots.

I downloaded the Gutekalleren, Berries and the Church porch shots but none of them have Exif. Very strange.

my "prepared for upload" have the exifs intact, however, could it be the forum uploader that have perhaps resaved some of my photos and perhaps then the exifs disappeared?
