Default Manual Lens + LiveView question

Hi!

Just wanting to ask you, when shooting with a manual lens I have found it easier to use the LiveView function when indoors/low light. However, I have also found that the focus indicator doesn't beep or show while focusing this way...is that the way it should be? or am I missing a setting somewhere?

I forgot to check this out, but I suspect that you are correct - the focus mechanism wouldn't be active while in live view. I know that it won't beep if you use a manual lens and focus while shooting video (played around a bit with my manual focus macro lens once, changing the focus point as I was using the video). Gives me a reason to pull out the camera I haven't touched all week.

Anyone else?

Correct - I hardly use Live View but I noticed the same last week. Don't really like LV because of the lag.

I do know that the light path to the focus sensor is dependent on the mirror being in place. With Live view the mirror is up so as to be able to expose the sensor. I thought that even with a fully manual lens, that the focus indicator would still register in the viewfinder. I though that the last time I had my A 50 on I had a in-focus indication. I have to go try that again. Also, I finally picked up a M42 adapter so I can play around with my SMC 50/1.8 from my old Spotmatic.
