Thank you Glen !

Th. - someone on another forum mentioned the same thing re. the UK. It is maybe a naive view of the world but many Chinese people are actually pleased when you photograph their children, proud that a foreigner finds their offspring of interest, usually encouraging them to smile or wave or give the peace sign (all exactly what you don't want)

Thank you John !

There was a long and very interesting debate on this on another forum. Javier (jgredline) is a great street shooter (and is now more often here on Steve's) and his standpoint and subjects' reactions, both from legal and moral standpoints, were key ingredients of the debate.

Sorry to be late replying but have been down with a nasty stomach virus for a few days.

Love these shots and so easy to take in China with such a willing population.

There are such an incredible number of emotions and expressions that can be captured from happy to sad and everything in between and seldom is anyone shy to be photographed. In the three weeks I was there only one man put his hand up to his face to indicate he did not want his picture taken.

You did a great job with these and I hope you show us more. I may put up a post of some of my china candid's one day soon.

Lou

Thank you Lou !

What you said is so true and I think it is that everyone .. and I mean everyone .. is into taking photos (as opposed to photography !) so it doesn't come across as weird or creepy when they find, especially a foreigner, taking photos of them !

I often have people sneaking into the frame next to me so their friend can take a shot of them with a 'Big Nose' ... when I notice I usually just put my arm around them and let them take the shot they wanted anyway !

Put your shots up Lou - where did you go and what did you see ?
