Your hike description brings back memories of a hike I did with some friends many years ago in the White Mountains of NH. I slipped during an icy stream crossing, and was treated to an exhilarating ice bath. I remember how uncomfortable it was after that -- you made a wise choice in shortening the hike.

Another beautiful location, I just love the ice pictures! Good idea cutting the walk short, can't imagine hiking when threatening to turn into an icicle. I love both the last two and the branch with all the icicles hanging off it. Very pretty.

Great set of three series, beautiful scenery! I will say I do not miss the cold, being in South Florida, but miss the photo ops.

GW - Thanks so much. Those ice formations were bits of frozen splashes! Glad you recognized your favorite E TN waterfall!

NMR - Thanks for your kind words!

MtnMan - Frozen falls are beautiful, but frozen clothes are no fun...

Harriet - Indeed winter safety is a high priority. We were all a bit disappointed, but had to be sensible. And we can always return another day...

Ed - Glad you enjoyed all of the cold hikes from the warmth of your lovely region!

those were 3 great hikes you had
and excellent photographs
it was way to hot here to go hiking anywhere
i am not sure i would go out in your conditions either lol
i wouldnt be able to move in all the clothes i would need

i like the waterfalls that have icicles and the soft water flowing past
thats a really neat effect
