Default Sunrise festival Tuktoyaktuk

Pictures will soon follow, the K10D is slowly warming back up in the Lowepro Orion Trekker II after lasting for over 3 hours at -20C on one battery (I haven't checked yet but I believe I have nearly 300 pictures). To say that I am favourably impressed is an understatement, although I admittedly haven't actually seen the pictures yet. be back soon.

BTW I survived the ordeal as well with no signs of frostbite or hypothermia.

Here are the first pictures, I don't know if it was the cold, the polarizing filter, having to use ISO800 or me but the focus is off on many of the images:

Great job, Ira!
I'd say that K 10 is a pretty good cold weather performer.

Ira, You images "read" like a National Geographic account! And that's what a real igloo looks like???

You're experiencing something really unique and I'm glad you're sharing aspects of life in the far north with us. Keep 'em coming.

Wow! Fascinating pictures, my favorite is the first one (of course, it's got dogs in it). But the igloo pictures are the most interesting. What a fascinating look at a completely different way of life.

Not the best igloo design but at least it gives shelter. It placed fourth (out of four entries ) so I guess it wasn't really up to standard.

Nice series. Like Jelpee said they look like a National Geographic account. Thanks for braving the bitter cold to bring them to us.

I think you're out of focus. Interesting series though.
