Great Ice Crystal shots ! They look like lost jewels you've found in the grass. The B&W conversion really works.

GW - Thanks so much - glad you liked them!

Hans - Thanks! That was one of my favorites too!

MtnMan - Thanks for the input on the star trails!

Lou - The ice ribbons in red clay are fairly common here, because red clay is common, and we have plenty of rapid temperature fluctuations in the winter. But not a very common phenomenon in general...

Harriet - Thanks so much for your kind words!

Vole - Thanks as always for your helpful input. The last ones are "ordinary" snowflakes - caught on some polartec. Had to put the fleece outside the night before to be sure it was cold enough (so flakes wouldn't melt). Used the Sigma 105 macro lens, with a Raynox close-up lens in front.

Eddie - Thanks so much!

Kevin - Glad you liked the crystals! Indeed snowflakes are ice crystals. It's not grass, just the fibers of the polartec fleece. And, believe it or not, this is not a B&W conversion - it was just black polartec and white snowflakes...
