Default K7 noise setting?

Hi all, what noise setting do you use on the K7? If I set the noise setting to high, and to kick in around 400, I get preaty blotchy look sky's. I do have nik software's dfine noise plugin, and topaz, but they don't seem to get rid of the bloches. It's not dust because it goes away, and turns more to grain if I lower the noise reduction. It can then be cleaned up nicely with dfine. you can really only see this in sky's.

Hi Tony, I've given you a link on the other forum, very good thread for noise in the K7 (and probably may even improve the K5 too).

If it's specifically re. the sky - give us a sample shot !

Here's a sample. If you look closely you will see a very blotchy sky. This is with the setting set to high.

wow, that is a horrible picture (no offence) but look at the tree's they are smeared all over the place...and yes the sky look very blotchy

I assume you shoot jpeg? well, when I shoot jpeg i tend to have NR to low and to kick in from 1600 and up and then I fix it afterwards....but that is on my KX ofcourse, and our cameras do have some differences ....
so sorry that I can't help you that much...

I almost always shoot raw rather than jpg, but I'd rather correct noise with pp - then you have control of it. I think my K7 is still set for the default settings for noise reduction, seems to work all right. I tend not to get too involved with noise reduction below ISO 800, and even there I may not do much.
