Default Pingo at Sunset Jan 29th Tuktoyaktuk

Today's shot, not HDR (still don't like the results I get, more practice needed).

Can't wait to see if the 18-55 WR is as good.

Love the shot! HDR works well for some things and is hopeless with others. I'm quick to give up on some scenes. I could never get decent sunrise/sunset shots out of Photomatix, I've had better luck with those using Nik's HDR Efex. In this case, I don't think HDR would give you anything as nice as this shot, just like it is. It's certainly very dramatic!

I am very pleased with the results I am getting with this lens. For this shot I used a 5 shot bracket with 1 stop steps. This image was overexposed by one stop, run through Noiseware Standard Edition to eliminate the slight noise, PSE6 was used to enhance local contrast using USM and then it was slightly cropped. Picasa was used to resize for posting.

That's a beautiful shot Ira, looks like something from the science fiction trilogy "Dune." How much sunlight are you getting these days?

Wonderful shot. A keeper and a framer. Like a painting, love the layers of sun drenched clouds.

That sunrise (or it could be midday !) looks gorgeous - more like a painting than a photograph.

I am off to try it out in a hockey rink, don't expect much from such a slow lens.
