Harriet, Ed can correct me if I'm wrong but, it looks like a tricolor Heron.

Great exposure latitude - white birds are handled especially well, with great detail and no blow-outs. Nicely done.

And, yes, it is a Tricolored Heron (previously known as a Louisiana Heron).
