Default Windy runway action

Hi all,

I Went for the Pentax smc 55-300 f4-5.8 DA, and gave it a test-run alongside the runway. A gusty 7 Bft was blowing which resulted in some nice (aborted) landings. It was a bit difficult to keep the cam steady in that wind so I left the ISO high for a fast shutter.

Go Around

Second approach resulted in a fine landing

The sun broke through for a moment providing a nice atmosphere. Added some soft focus for a dreamy look

That's a huge improvement in Image Quality with the new lens! Better sharpness and contrast are very noticeable. Love the smoky landings on #1 & 2! Looking forward to more from Amsterdam!

Yes! I agree with Jehan.
And, you're gonna love that lens. I'm still waiting for mine to come back from repairs and I shore do miss it.

Love the last one, the lighting is wonderful. The first two are really nice, looks like you are going to get a lot out of that lens.

Congrats on the new lens. Very nice, that new lens if paying dividends, like jelpee said the sharpness and contrast is a big jump. These look very nice. Love the one wheel smoking of 1 and 2. I feel a little guilty as I was the one that commented about the 50-200 and gave you LBA

Thanks all!

Besides upgrading to a new lens I also tweaked my post processing workflow a bit (thanks to Jelpee for his help); I think some improvement was scored there too.

@ Shoturtle: don't feel guilty dude; I brought the 50-200 WR for this shooting too, but it stayed dry and the 'WR' specs weren't required. But it could just as easily have saved the day, and it's good to know some day it will

Looking forward to serving y'all with more aviation goodies!

Congrats on the new lens. Looks like a good combination for you, I also like the smoking wheels. Amsterdam will get you shots of aircraft from around the world. Not only do have lens envy but also aircraft envy.
