I'm going to be selfish and urge you to get the Sigma. The reason it's selfish is that I'm going to get the Pentax because WR is very important for me (and worth the extra $100) and I'd love to see what you make of the Sigma. I already know quite a bit about the Pentax, it's the Sigma that's the unknown for me. And since you have no need for the WR, the Sigma makes lots of sense.

Photozone has a review for the Sigma, you might want to read there a bit:

Good luck,

That's the wrong lense. They have a new 17-50/2.8 (non-macro) version that is super sharp.

Ok, i'll get the sigma. I'll be sure to let you know how it is mtngal when i get it.
And because i'll most likely get it from amazon (as i do for most of my lenses),
it's super easy to return and get the 16-50 instead.

In fact, i may just buy the pentax 16-50, the sigma 16-50, and the pentax 14mm,
then return the 2 that i dont want. I wont need it for an event for a little while so
ive got the time.
