Default Valentine's Day Gift

So as usual when this time of year comes around I'm at a total loss as to what to give (all that pressure from the media has me a quivering wreck in case I buy / do the wrong thing) !

This year I'm going with a Chinese Calligraphy set (we had fun trying to use traditional brushes and copy the writing of yore at a party last week) and a 16x12 framed photo of my wife that I took two days ago (with the 43 Ltd) and that she hasn't seen yet (the actual print has a little more of the right side trimmed off). It will be ready 15.30 on the 13th - I hope she likes it !

A very nice picture of your lovely wife. I'm sure she'll treasure it.

DOF and bokeh are great....

The picture is lovely and your wife is very beautiful. But shouldn't you be giving her a picture of yourself? If it were me, I'd probably try a self-portrait and then get it on a coffee mug with hearts of the other side, perhaps with words on undying love. But maybe that's just something a girl would think of (note to self, try to take another self-portrait for a coffee mug to replace the one that disappeared from my husband's office...).

Thank you Les !

Thanks John - 25 years this year, 2 children in their 20's !

Thank you Harriet. Actually I'm not sure if this is a Chinese trait or an Oriental one but they love to have photos of themselves ! Sounds like you might have an admirer in your husband's office

You might be on-target about the cultural differences. I've never been very keen on pictures of myself, but then I'm not knock-out gorgeous like your wife. Maybe I'd feel differently about it if I were.

Hey Kev,
I'm surprised, she could easily pass for 25 herself. Even my wife said so.
That's one of the nice things about the Asian population, they stay younger looking, longer.
I've always had a weakness for Asian ladies, my first girlfriend was Chinese and I always thought I'd marry her but... My son, 20 some years later, took a Chinese bride and she's just as beautiful as yours!
Like father like son.

It is indeed a beautiful photo of a beautiful woman. If the culture is as you describe I'm sure she will be thrilled with it.
