Default Some Spring Signs!!

Yes, it is still winter here in the Northern Hemisphere, but we are beginning to see some spring signs in East Tennessee. Lots of rain and sun, and many days with temperatures in the 50's and 60's Farenheit!

Warmth and rain mean creeks running high. some minor flooding, and also very full waterfalls. This is the fullest I've ever seen Millstone Creek Falls (usually just a pretty trickle).

And here's a fuller-than-ever Kiner Creek Falls, which is frequently nothing but a few drips!!

And Laurel Run Falls is so easy to get to, we had to check it out in the almost-spring flood too!

Another sign that spring is coming - some blooming things!
Here are some Elm blooms, and the first Spring Beauty bloom of the season.

Eastern Comma butterflies overwinter as adults. The springlike weather has them out and flying!

These springlike days are full of bird song, and many birds are already defending their soon-to-be nesting territories.
This "cute little bird" was defending his snack!

Today we are expecting more heavy rains, perhaps some dangerous storms. So I will keep the camera in the pack, and wait for more sunshine tomorrow!

Hope you enjoyed these glimpses of the promise of spring's return, and that you will share your comments, suggestions and critique!

A lovely series! I really need to get motivated to visit the two waterfalls that are somewhat "close" to me (a very relative term as both of them are probably 70 miles and a mile or two hike for me). Or try to spend a weekend somewhere I can reach other waterfalls. Until I can figure out something for myself I'll just enjoy yours.

Do you use a ND filter to get your slow shutter speeds? Or are the falls sheltered enough from direct sunlight? They are always just awesome.
