Default Green Eggs

Well, actually Green Heron eggs. Came across Green Heron nest in Wakodahatchee Wetlands today. Bird got up and left nest to find another twig for nest and returned to incubation duty.

The nest is an amazing piece of construction that is built purely on instinct vs. science and technology. Very nice images Ed!

You're really tempting me to get a 150-500. How does she do at 500mm in terms of sharpness?

Very nice series - and I agree, the first one seems to be saying, "don't you DARE come near here."

Hi Ed,

These are great!!! I doubt that I'll ever get anywhere near that close to a Heron nest, so if you can keep us updated through the season, it will be very interesting to follow the development of the chicks.

A few seasons ago, Roy (Robar) was able to follow a family of Yellow Crested Night Herons From Tx as they raised their young, and that was a great progression to be able to see, so I'm looking forward to future posts in this series.
