Default Moganshan - Mountain in the Mist

This small mountain, around 270 kms (ca. 170 miles) from Shanghai, and part of the Tianmu mountain range in the province of Zhejiang, is home to numerous villas (now converted into hotels) from around 100 years ago - when British & American expatriates living in Shanghai bought the mountain (for $50 !) and turned it into a cool Summer retreat to escape the heat of a Shanghai Summer.

I thought a run down here for a couple of days to check out the bird population might be fun ! Unfortunately the clouds were rolling over and through the trees that cover the mountain on the first day - though partially cleared on the second day. These are the first shots I've processed and I'll run a commentary on some themes later - hope you enjoy these, I did !

Wow, what a beautiful place....imagine that the mountain was bought for $ 50....why I'd be willing to pay $ 100 for the view alone !!

BTW, your pictures are excellent.

These are beautiful shots Frogfish. What a delightful place to spend some time away from the bustle of the city. It looks like a gorgeous area.

Hans - glad you liked that one of the butterfly. I am amazed at the resolution of the DA*300 (the lense used for that one) - this is a 75% crop (down-sized and compressed by the site) :

A lovely tribute to someplace that looks just awesome! I'd love to visit, what a wonderful location. The DA*300 is such an incredible lens - while it's expensive, its worth every cent. It constantly amazes me with the detail, and its especially well matched with the K5.

Wonderful series, and fascinating history as well. Great mood & composition in #2, wonderful lines in #1 and #4, and excellent detail in the butterfly. Looks a lot like our native Olympia Marble...
