Default Painted Bunting Female

Last week I posted some male Painted Buntings from Green Cay Wetlands. This week at Green Cay I came across two female Painted Buntings at a feeder. At a risk of sounding sexist I have to say the female Buntings are duller. As a reminder the last photo is a male.

Doesn't sound sexist - after all, they are duller colored because they are more important to the survival of the family!

Great photos too - both male & female - excellent detail!
