Just patience really, approach them slowly, if they fly off just stay still and quite often then will land again very close by as they have chosen that area to find a mate. As soon as they know you aren't a threat you can get very close which is handy as the minimum focus distance for 1:1 macro on the Tamron lens is only a few inches from the front element. Quite a few times I have actually bumped into them (the wings of dragonflies especially) and they don't even flinch.
