The FA 35 has an excellent reputation, as do the two Limited lenses. All of the about 100mm macro lenses are very good, the Tamron had always seemed to be a hair better than the others. That is, until Pentax came out with the 100 WR, that's the lens I'd like to have, if I ever decide to replace the Viv 105 (which isn't all that likely, since I'm perfectly happy with it).

I agree. Saw a test of the new Pentax 100 Macro in Popular Photography. Think they called the glass..'superb'...

Here's the test:

I got the 135 for $50 US and the 50 was off my ME Super that I bought new. here is a link for Pentax lens reviews with pricing http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/ , the same site also has 3rd party lens reviews.

Many thanks! I am happy to try using manual lenses. I am shooting trees, lots of Birch and Pines which have small leaves and pines needles... I need as best image quality that I can get so that the detail is better in the photo, without relying [sigh] on software. Thanks and all the best. Ned
