Summer's a busy time in the parks, so I may not have time to stop by here so often. I do hope you enjoy this glimpse of the bright life of the season, and that you will share your comments & critique.

D Flies and B Flies - nice.

Local variations don't always match the pictures in the guides. Cant help with the Duskywing - of the half dozen species in your area nothing closely matches in the field guide - the closest I could come were the Wild Indigo Duskywing or Horace's Duskywing. I recognize the Pearly-eye at the end, but which Hairstreak is that - one of the 5 Satyrium Hairstreaks in your area - perhaps the Banded Hairstreak? Again the picturess in the guide aren't close enough.

A lovely series, the butterflies are outstanding. However, that first picture really speaks to me, a lovely shot!

GW - You are too kind!

Penolta - Thanks so much! Yes, that is a Banded Hairstreak - it's perched on a sign advertising a campfire talk/slide show for our park visitors about "insect friends." Too bad you can't read the sign and see the 'fly at the same time! I definitely do not know the Duskywings well, will check out your two suggestions...

Harriet - So glad you enjoyed these! First shot was at the park lake, typical view as I'm cycling to work...

Lovely Butterflies and dragonflies, but my favorite is the first, the bird flying out of the sun. I love how the water picks up the glint from the sun.
