Default Volcanic ash sunset

A recent sunset over Elwick bay in Tasmania with ash from a Chilean volcano giving the sky a deeper glow. (Pentax K5)

Spectacular color. But what are the cars doing on a harness track, or is the harness racer out of place?

It was between races so the service vehicles are parked on the track and the horses are warming up.

I was photographing a function and kept one eye on the view and ducked out onto the balcony when the sunset was at its best.

OK, now I understand. Did you also take some pictures of the races? I've always wanted to try shooting horse racing (any type) but never seem to find an excuse to go to the track. Too busy with other things (silly really, since one of the prettiest thoroughbred tracks isn't all that far away). I've never seen a harness race in person, I think that would be really cool to watch.

Occasionally, but as they mostly run night or twilight meetings my K10D struggled a bit. particularly when using my Sigma telephoto zoom, its not the fastest thing in the world for light or autofocus.

For this track the 55-135 is bit short, there are only couple of spots to get different shots.

I have not done much harness shots since I got the K5.

The harness track, and the greyhound track are inside the thoroughbred track, but I am usually working in the judges tower for these meetings.
