Default A few small birds. CZJ 300 f/4 and K7

Part II. With a Carl Zeiss Jena 300mm f/4 Sonnar Red MC lens and a Pentax K7 camera. Hand held shots as usual.

Some lovely shots in there BD. Do you prefocus on a spot or focus directly on the birds ? How do you find the CZJ in comparison to modern lenses (lets say your 50-500 if you have no DA*300) ?

I try to focus on the eye with the position of the bird in mind to compose properly. I usually crop in PP to rearrange the composition a little.

I like the CZJ's better for small birds anyway. Sharper with better contrast and color.

These are very nice - they do look better than what you were getting before with the Bigma. There's several in this set that are really striking, definitely looks like this is a good set-up for you.

Thanks Harriet. I do like the Zeiss lenses. I'm doing nothing different but using the Zeiss glass. To me that is all the proof I need. Now to get that 645 going and use these lenses. Now that may be a big difference in IQ!!!
