A nice series! I'm another person who's never seen/noticed one of these moths, only seen pictures of them posted here. They are certainly fascinating.

Thanks, we had one in our yard about 2 years ago. The only flower they show an interest in is these Phlox. Perennial Phlox has a pleasant smell; maybe that's what attracts them.

Thanks for the shots, Jim. I saw these in Thailand years ago and always in the evening when I couldn't get a clear picture. Often wondered what they were, and now I know!

#4 is a superb shot Jim - look at that tongue, they always fascinate me when I see them (rarely) and I've never had a camera with me when I have done. At last year's HSBC golf event in Shanghai I saw these every day going over the flowers / bushes right outside the clubhouse !
