Fact is JMJJR that if they tighten up the tolerances further then that means the contractors will increase their costs too, so with all the extra costs involved it becomes a case of diminishing returns, to the point you could be paying an extra 30-50% for each of your lenses.

If you can get the job done in-camera for minimal cost and with maybe only 1:100 lenses being totally incompatible with a specific camera then that is the most cost effective, and acceptable to the paying public, way to go.
That's fine if all your bodies have the adjustment option-if not-place your bet and roll the dice.

Well think of it this way .. another 30-50% on all your lens prices or maybe just send one back for exchange (if new) or re-sell it (if bought used). I know which one I'd choose

The K10 doesn't have a way to adjust focus - that was introduced with the K20. There's supposed to be a hack way of doing it (global change) but Pentax closed that off with its last firmware update. I'm not sure about the Kx and Kr - there may be a way to adjust globally but not for specific lenses like there is with the K20, K7 and K5. I've got three of my lenses set for different adjustments (the 12-24 front focuses a bit, the 50-135 and the FA 31 both back focus a bit).

Yes you can on the Km but it is not Pentax supported, see link below, this is a global adjustment not per lens.
