Default Put-In-Bay, Lake Erie, Ohio

Had a chance to go to Put-In-Bay, an island in Lake Erie, last Saturday. Was a beautiful day and although the island is noted for its excessive drinking and carousing at night, it is pretty nice for the family during the day. Here are some shots showing off the various means of transport on the island. All the shots were taken with the DL and either the kit lens or the DA 50-200.
We start with the "Jet Express" that gets you to the island.

And of course there has to be sail boats.

We saw several classic British two seaters.

An beautiful bi-plane for those who like a higher vantage point.

And naturally non-sail boats of all sizes and shapes.

Hope you enjoyed the trip. Wish you could have been there with us.

Great series Glenn...am putting it on my places to visit! Great work with the DL....relaible as ever! I like the various modes of transportation that you;ve depicted in the series...boats, cars, planes, and even the canoe!

I spend several summer vacations sailing around the islands in Erie (and the rest of the Great Lakes), your shots of Put-In-Bay brought back many memories. I'am now boatless, but I will have to visit again. Thanks for the memories, Nice series.

Love that last one - boats large and small. But all of them are very cool.

Excellent series -- really gives me a feel for the island. I love the name of tghe bar or restaurant in the background of #3; sounds like they cater to the rowdy crowd after the family folks have left for the day.

Cater is a mild word for it! If you could see the size of some of the bars you would probably use words like, "grab them by the neck and pull them in!"

Lovely images. Jealous of the blue skies. We've had rain for days now. And, today was supposed to be beautiful, but I'm still waiting. We have grey skies still and it's humid.

What an assortment of modes of transportation. Are there golf carts all over the island? Or, did you just get two in one shot by chance.

The golf carts were everywhere so I didn't take any shots of them!
