Default Question for k-x owners

I have not yet updated the firmware on my k-x and was wondering what the average install time has been. I'm not talking download time I will do that ahead of time and put the file(s) on an sd card. What I'm really looking for is how long did the update take from the moment you initiated the install. Also there is a 1.02 update now as well. I don't have an ac power adapter. If the install takes too long, I will wait until I have purchased the ac adapter.

Thanks,

Osnap65

I don't have a KX, I have the K5 (and a variety of earlier Pentax cameras). The earlier cameras usually took about 90 seconds to install. The K5 takes longer than that - 2 to 3 minutes, or it might be closer to 2 minutes but it's longer and I always start worrying. I wouldn't think you'd have a problem with a fresh set of batteries. Hopefully someone with a KX will chime in.

About 60 seconds total. Just start with a fresh set of batteries.

I realize you really want a reply from a Kx owner, and I also don't have one. But like mtngal, my experience with both a K-100 and a K-20 is that firmware updates take only a minute or two. I have never had an AC converter, and I have had no trouble upgrading firmware with fully charged batteries.

I do own the K-x, and if I recall, it was just a minute or two.

Do not have a K-X, but updates on both K-M and K20d were less than two minutes. Just be sure your batteries are fully charged, and don't interrupt the update process.

It was around 1 minute 30 secs. But you will be fine with a fresh set of batteries. Update 1.02 is just to support the SDXC Memory cards, nothing else. If you are planning to use a SDXC Card then do the update, otherwise you don't need it.
