Default Pentax K-R Focus Assist

Hi All,

I just notice that if I am shooting in dark and needed to use the flash. The Focus Assist light (both build-in and external flash) will not turn on unless I am using Auto mode or other auto modes. If I select manual or TV or S mode, the light will not come on. Why is that? Anyway to fix it?

Just want to share with people. I just did some research online and found that if my Focus is in AF.C mode, it will only work in Auto mode. According to the research, if I switch it back to AF.S mode, it should work all the time. I am going to give it a try tonight.

I couldn't figure your situation out and since I don't have the KR, I didn't want to say anything. I've never tried to use AF.C in low light, so never had a problem with the assist light coming on regardless of what mode I was using. I'll have to file that away in my mind, in case I run into that situation (I do use AF.C once in a while and might leave the camera set that way).
