Default Shenandoa National Park - Camp Rapidan

This camp was built for President Herbert C. Hoover as a place close to Washington DC to get away to the wilderness. The out-houses are the first sign of the camp. You then cross a bridge over a creek where Hoover often fly fished for Trout. Originally five tents with wood floors were installed, as requested by Hoovers’ wife. Thirteen cabins were built after that. Only three cabins remain. The first cabin pictured was reserved for Britain’s Prime Minister. The second was for Hoover and his wife. The third (the Creel) is being lived in by a Caretaker (satellite dish not original).

Looks like a nice peaceful area of serenity. And, looks cold. At least the guy in the jacket seems to be huddling.

A beautiful location for some quiet negotiations, reflecting a much simpler life.
