Default Quick trip up Sill Branch

As mentioned in this thread:
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/pe...mn-fading.html
most of my free time these next few weeks is occupied with used bicycle repairs for Christmas (about 20 repaired, about 50 more to go...)

But we did have a few moments recently for a quick hike up Sill Branch in the Clark's Creek area of Cherokee National Forest.

Sill Branch is a lovely little stream that drains a lush, green, mountainous landscape.

All the fine fall foliage is down and beginning to decay (decay is pretty quick in these temperate rain forest habitats!)

The creek is rich with riffles - perfect habitat for an amazing diversity of aquatic life, and some pretty nice views too! (any preference among these perspectives?)

The big attraction at Sill Branch is Sill Branch Falls. The falls will be much fuller and lovelier by late winter, but there's already enough water to make for a pretty scene...

I've probably taken 100 photos of this waterfall, but never before took time to climb around the sides for some different views! Here's how Sill Branch Falls looks from the slopes on the left side...

And here's how the falls look from the cliffs on the right side...
(am glad I took the time to climb around a bit, do you like these other views too?)

It's just a short hike up to the falls and back, but there are plenty more trails on beyond the falls. This time we only had time for a brief visit, but plan to return to enjoy the winter views and the abundant spring wildflowers...
Hope you enjoyed this quick trip, and that you will share your comments & critique!
