Default Three Views of a Rose

The roses have only a short time left to thrill us for this year, so I photographed a particularly nice one in the rain this morning. The first shot the focus is clearly on the rose, with the smaller bloom slightly out of focus in the foreground....

On the second shot, I backed the zoom off a little and made the foreground bloom the focus point....

Finally, on the third shot, I eliminated the foreground distraction.

A couple of questions..... which view is most effective, and should I have lowered saturation. It almost appears to be a color blow-out.

Shot was with the K-5 and the Sigma 50-500.

All very well done, Paul, but I think the last one is the most effective. As far as saturation level, is the color rendered accurately? If so, then, saturation is fine.

Red is a hard color to handle for Pentax cameras - I find I usually have to watch exposure (often have to slightly underexpose) and saturation, and even then they sometimes don't quite work out.

I like the third one best, then the first one. I think the placement of the in-focus lower flower to be too minor (don't know if that's the right way of explaining it) and a bit lost to the softer one in the background. But that's strictly my opinion - composition is not my strong-point.
