Default I took the plunge!

There I was, lashed securely to the mast, desperately wanting the K5, but (just barely) resisting the K5’s siren song. The instant rebate that ends in a few weeks loosened the ropes slightly, but still I resisted the temptation. But then a member of this forum alerted me to a dealer here in New England that was having a week-long sale that shaved a few hundred dollars off the already discounted price, and suddenly the rope holding me to the mast came off. No longer able to resist the siren call, I pulled out my credit card, and am now the very happy owner of a K5.

Now, I just have to find the time to begin playing with it. I’m extremely busy for the next several weeks. Even so, I’m really looking forward to getting to know this very fine camera.

My apologies for the very lame Homer metaphor.

Congrats! You've been talking about wanting one recently, I'm not surprised that you pulled the trigger when you could. It really isn't all that different, so spend a half hour a day, trying one new thing and pretty soon you'll realize it's all comfortable.

Post pictures!

A little bird whispered in my ear that this was happening. Use it in good health!

Great News! You will never look back. The K5 is the first camera that has truly changed my shooting style. Can't wait to see some images. Gratz!

Thanks for the well wishes folks. It's a very good thing that I got the K5 now, because just the day before yesterday our daughter had an accident in our car, causing extensive (and expensive) damage. She is fine -- not even a scratch. But if she'd had the accident a few days earlier, I would have thought about our auto repair bills and surely would not have ordered the camera. But now that I have it I'm not sending it back!

I am happiest to hear that your daughter is well. Cars and cameras can be fixed/replaced..... but I am glad to hear that the accident is not going to keep you from enjoying your K5. Congratulations on your acquisition and on your daughter's not being hurt.

I'm envious (about the camera), glad all is well
