Default On the Way Home

When you're exhausted after a day with high schoolers, and you've announced that the moment you go through the front door, you're headed for the bed for a nap..... it's easy to ignore a simply beautiful, exceptionally large bird perched on a power transmission line pole..... maybe not so easy.... especially when you're already on the phone....and can say "Have Nik (my son) meet me in the driveway with the K-5 and the Bigma--and I'll be home again in a little bit."

They're used to me, and thus, Nik had the camera ready and I hardly slowed down, wheeling my pickup up back to the spot where I saw the bird...."Aaahhhh! A BART!!! (a Big-A** Red-Tail)

She actually was one of the most beautiful I have seen in this area and simply huge.

Somehow that cured how tired I was. Thanks, BART!

Nice shots Paul. Sure was a beautiful RTH. It is exciting to see these magnificent birds up close. A sight like that will wake you up in a hurry.
