Default Quick K-5 Question

Can;t seem to track down the answer but wondering what the shutter life rating is for the K-5 (number of clicks before it starts to fail?). I think I remember seeing it listed as up to 100,000 but can't remember for sure.

Since October I have already taken 18.000 photos with it. Love it just wondering for the long haul.........

I'm pretty sure the K7 was rated at 100,000 so the K5 would be the same. I'm sure it's a conservative number - I've had close to 20,000 on a couple of cameras before I sold them on and the person who bought them added a huge amount more without issue. I wouldn't worry about it at this point.

Hi Dave,

Harriet is correct, the K-5's shutter is conservatively rated for 100,000 actuations, as have all the top of the line Pentax DSLRs since the K10, IIRC. There are a number of users on various Pentax fora who have logged considerably over 100,000 actuations on different models without any problems.

Put your mind at ease and shoot as much as you feel like.
