Default For Patty - Oceanside Sunrise

Earlier in the month I posted some pictures I took of Oceanside and the pier, playing around with depth and angles and light and various things. I posted this HDR picture:

Patty had made the comment that she wished I had been able to include more on each side. I don't have any more showing the ocean, but I did take another series showing what was on the left. The two series were not taken with the idea of a panorama, so they weren't taken from the same exact spot and probably not at the same focal length. But with some pushing and prodding, I was able to get them to more or less match up, and with some other adjustments, managed to get the exposures close to the same. I did it without the use of photoshop's panorama feature since the two were so different I didn't think the program would be able to handle it. The result isn't perfect (especially when viewed full sized), but reduced to this size the faults aren't so noticeable, and I thought that taken as a whole, it came out all right.

That is an amazing panorama - even more so considering all the work it took. Thanks for sharing!

That first one does it for me - simply incredible.

Thanks for the compliments - it was an interesting exercise. While I've used the transform tool in CS4 often, I usually use skew or scale or rotate. Since these two shots had size differences, I tried "warp" to see if it would help. It definitely helped match things up since the angles were so totally different. An interesting exercise to play with while staying home sick (got a boring virus, just enough that I didn't feel capable of working and didn't want to pass it on to all of my co-workers, like someone did to me).

It's a really interesting pano - made more so by the tidal flow around the shot.

A stunning panorama! Don't know how long it took to put together but it was worth it.
