Default The Camel

The short version of a long story is that I have been hobbling around with a fractured ankle in a boot all month. Between that and starting up a new project that has me going on conference calls from 6am to 6pm, has left little time for anything. The upside of this is that I was able to catch a wonderful price on a K5 from Samy's Camera in LA. So, this evening I finally got out of the house to go take some pictures...

Here is Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, 5 bracketed shots @ iso 80 +/- 2ev and using Oloneo's PhotoEngine to stack them together. I really do like this camera and I am finding that it is doing everything that I have always wanted to do, just as everyone was saying, all along. I sort of feel bad with a perfectly wonderful K20 now sitting on the Dining Room table.

I also have to say that for tone mapping this new photo engine provide a work flow that does really work for me.

I really like the shot, the bracketing created a natural looking image, nicely done

Very sorry about the broken ankle and the crazy schedule. I also upgraded very recently from a K20 to a K5, and I am also having trouble finding the time to get out ans use it. Great image, by the way.

Very nice picture! Congrats on being able to take advantage of Samy's mistake, and that they honored the price. The interesting thing about something like this is that a store can get a good idea of what type of sale price they should set - too low and they'll be inundated (like it sounds like Samy's was) and too high a price and they don't move off the shelves. I don't think anyone else is going to lower the price on the K5 that far until well after the replacement is announced.

No wonder you haven't been out in a while - ouch! A crazy schedule is a lot easier to deal with than a broken ankle - hope you'll be able to get back to normal soon.
