Wow, these are great. I also am very fond of the bonsai, but I'm especially taken with the delightfully complex geometric pattern of the fence shadow.

Hi Harriet,

Nice work!

I like the bridge, the bonsai, and the fence shadows. As you did with the bonsai, I seem to often take silhouette shots, then recover some shadow detail, and most times prefer to see at least some of the shadow detail.

Even though our winter has been incredibly mild so far (knock on wood!) I'm still jealous of all that sunshine and shirtsleeve weather. . .

Scott

Glad several others liked the fence shadows - that's my favorite of the day, I think.

Ira - I don't envy you at all, except for the ability to see the northern lights. I love winter with gentle snow like the inch of snow I scaped off the car yesterday morning. But I also like it to go away relatively quickly (though not so quickly that it's all gone by the time I get home from work, like last night).

And I'd rather have white, snow-covered trees with the black and white contrast than days of greyish-brown, bare trees with only a little of greyish-brown, dirty snow around in patches that haven't melted yet. So Scott, while your winter might be mild, I'm not so sure that's a good thing either.

Terrific series, I love your back lighting shots.

Hi, Rodney, glad to see you are still around! Thanks for the compliment, it's always nice to know that an experiment went right (trying for the bonsai silhouette was an experiment - wasn't sure at the time I took the picture whether I would like it or not).
