Tough one. I initially thought something around the 100mm range but then once we got to the streams and hut that was too long. So I'll go for a M 50/1.7.

I'm with Hans, and think that this is on the wide side of normal since the background mountains don't look very compressed. Probably in the range of 20-28mm (30-42mm EQ) and either a K or M series since it was noted that it was old -- which one I couldn't venture a guess though as I'm not really much of a wide shooter, so don't know the lenses very well.

Thanks to all for taking the time to look, and for all the great guesses!

Eddy - I do have an A 70-210, it's a great lens but too long for these kinds of landscapes. Very similar color quality though...

Hans - Glad you enjoyed these. It is an easy lens to use, and 35mm is a great guess.

Kevin - You are right, 100mm is too long, as is 50mm. But it is an M lens.

Scott - Great guess as to length and lens series.

It's a Pentax M 24-35, F 3.5. Here's a link the description on Bojidar's site:
http://kmp.bdimitrov.de/lenses/zooms...24-35f3.5.html

Not much zoom to this one, but just right for these kinds of landscapes. Am looking forward to more time soon to play with it out on the trail.

Thanks again for all the guesses and great comments!

Interesting lens - I'd never have guessed that one and looking forward to seeing more of it's output.

I looked at a couple of the exif information and noted that the ones I checked were taken at 24mm. I wondered if it might have been the SMC 24 f2.8 lens - wouldn't have guessed that it was a zoom. It looks like a very nice lens, excellent color and contrast. You'll have a great time with it.
