Harriet, your experience is an example of why it might have been better if the K-01 had at least a tiltable LCD. That would allow you to hold the camera against your body at waist level with the LCD tilted up. This would permit you to shoot the way people used to with medium-format cameras. Many Sony NEX users say they shoot ths way. Perhaps future cameras in the K-01 line will feature this.

Interesting subject Harriet. I do use live view when doing Macro as I find it helpful as you mentioned when drifting in and out of focus with your body motion. The drawback that I find is that with the K-5 & K-7 in very heavy sun I am unable to see properly and revert back to the viewfinder. Having a camera with no fall back would not be something I would consider. So in the end I agree with Biro.

The macro shot of the the insect you posted is perfectly composed exposed and focused. Nice work!
